Our photography studio has started digitising the “Clothes” and “Photographs” collections of the Museum of the History of Bohuslav Region, as well as items of clothing collected during our expeditions to the villages of Bohuslavshchyna.
The shootings are being carried out by photographer Andriy Yarovyi, who plans to make several three-dimensional models of costumes in addition to the usual 2-D images, which can then be viewed in three dimensions, rotated, zoomed in and out while browsing the interactive map of the Bohuslav community on our website navkolonas.org.ua.
Viktoria Oliynyk, head of the “Clothing and Tradition. Bohuslavshchyna” project tells about the studio: “We are currently digitising shirts from the Museum of the History of Bohuslav Region, and then we plan to take pictures of clothes from different villages, and perhaps we will succeed in identifying local specifics that are characteristic of a particular village. We are planning to create an interactive map on our website where one can view clothes and photos from each village in our community.”
In total, we plan to digitise about 250 items of clothing and photographs from the first half of the 20th century, which will be used to recreate Ukrainian folk costumes.
The materials of our expeditions are available in the Research and Expeditions section.
