Our non-governmental organisation was founded in 2020 by a group of like-minded people committed to preserving and promoting the authentic culture of Ukraine. The activities of the “AROUND US. UA” NGO are aimed at preserving the tangible and intangible heritage of Ukraine. In particular, it is dedicated to researching, saving, protecting and mainly disseminating information about the heritage of Ukrainian history and culture without myth-making, imposed clichés and inferior stereotypes.
With the outbreak of the full-scale military invasion, members of the board of the “AROUND US. UA” NGO became co-organisers of the Bohuslav Volunteer Headquarters. In the first days of the war, the headquarters provided uninterrupted assistance to thousands of displaced persons from the North and East (helping them find housing, providing food and clothing), as well as, within the capabilities, to the military at the forefront. Later, to raise funds for the needs of the military and IDPs, the Bohuslav Volunteer Headquarters, together with the “AROUND US. UA” NGO and the Museum of the History of Bohuslav Region launched a series of historical and cultural projects. And afterwards, this work captivated us and turned into an essential part of the activities of the “AROUND US. UA” NGO.
Nowadays, our activities are focused on the local history and traditions of the Bohuslav territorial community in the Kyiv region. However, we are not limited to it.
We share our results, scientific and creative approaches to addressing the challenges and cover all stages of our work. Anyone interested is welcome to use our experience in practice when implementing projects in their communities.
Each one of us is bringing Ukraine’s victory closer. The ancient history and rich cultural heritage are a precious treasure that we must preserve for future generations of Ukrainians. Therefore, we should save and multiply all the treasures that we have!

OUR MISSION
The mission of our organisation is to make the world fall in love with authentic Ukrainian culture, especially with traditional culture. The goal is to research, study, preserve, reproduce and popularise Ukrainian cultural heritage and local history in its diverse manifestations. The projects we implement are aimed at collecting, studying, promoting and presenting the accumulated material to the public. We have the relevant experience, expertise, and a vigorous team of professionals.
The organisation cooperates with many partners willing to cooperate and grow together.
Currently, we are concentrating our activities in the city of Bohuslav and its local community. Like in many other places in Ukraine, Bohuslav is witnessing a low interest among the local population in historical and cultural heritage. In addition, local traditions and folklore have not been sufficiently researched.
The main reason for such a situation was the anti-Ukrainian stance of the Soviet government, the elimination of the traditional Ukrainian village, the ban on ancient rituals, including carolling and festive singing. The aggressive propaganda activities of the modern russian federation and the full-scale war unleashed by them aim to destroy the Ukrainian national memory and original culture.
In the context of the armed and informational confrontation against russian aggression, it is crucial to study, save and promote the cultural heritage of Ukraine. After all, awakening the interest of Ukrainians in researching and popularising their traditions and preserving family memory contributes to the identification of themselves as Ukrainians and to social cohesion, patriotic education of youth, and improving the quality of cultural leisure for both community residents and internally displaced persons from other regions of the country.

Our organisation is a non-profit, and we implement projects funded by grants or on a volunteer basis. We consider our activities to be extremely significant in modern times and circumstances. Only a nation that is aware of its roots and traditions can resist the invader with dignity. There is a shortage of ethnographic and local history research in our region due to the restrictions and suppression that existed in Soviet times. Therefore, our task is to fix it: to discover, preserve, and promote it.
