On 9 December 2023, a historical and cultural charity event “Christmas Fair. St. Andrew’s Evenings” was held within the framework of the project “Life of Ukrainians. Folk Calendar of Bohuslavshchyna”.
At the evening celebrations (vechornytsi) in the Myronivka Museum of Local Lore, they taught how to tie shawls, decorate gingerbread, learn Petrykivka and Dybynets folk painting, make Motanka dolls, Christmas decorations from felt, and make bead and rhinestone crafts. Folk artists from Bohuslavshchyna were present at the event.
The traditions of St Andrew’s evening were also recreated here. The Chornobryvets folk song and dance ensemble performed a whole ethnic performance traditional for St Andrew’s Day. The musical palette of the event was complemented by the folklore ensemble of the Myronivka Centre for Children and Youth Creativity: they performed a carol; saxophonists Anton Puzatko (Bohuslav) and Nazar Hyrin (Myronivka) performed Christmas tunes.
During the charity event, UAH 8,624 were raised, which the organisers donated to the Strong and Unbreakable charity fund for the needs of frontline hospitals in the Donetsk area, namely for medical supplies used to save the lives of wounded soldiers.
Event organisers: Myronivka Museum of Local Lore, Bohuslav Volunteer Headquarters, “Around Us. UA” NGO in partnership with the Strong and Unbreakable Charity Foundation.
