The team of the “Around Us. UA” NGO visited Lviv to attend the presentation of the project “Crisis Inventory and Leap to Digitalisation of Museum Accounting” by HeMo: Ukrainian Heritage Monitoring Lab.
In the immediate future, we plan to plunge into the digitisation of elements of our cultural heritage, and we have to do it urgently because russia is attempting to destroy our culture along with our people so that no trace of it remains.
We learned from the experience of digitalising museum collections shared by 5 institutions:
- State Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
- Tustan State Historical and Cultural Reserve;
- Kharkiv Literary Museum;
- Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum of Arts;
- Odesa Fine Arts Museum.
We uncovered a wealth of valuable information regarding the emergency inventory of exhibits, the arsenal of digital solutions for cultural heritage, and how to properly scan, photograph, describe and collect items for museum collections. As well as ways to win the hearts for Ukraine through culture.
Shortly, we will launch our own project to digitise old garments, shoes, and jewellery to preserve the real Ukraine for future generations. Stay tuned for our news!
