We keep on introducing the Kyiv region to the heritage of the couple Fedir and Oleksandra Brazhnyk, well-known costume designers in the United States who created Ukrainian national costumes for choral, dance, and theatre companies of Ukrainian immigrants. Today, the residents of Bila Tserkva can view our banner exhibition “Brazhnyky – Masters of Ukrainian Clothing”.
The residents of Bila Tserkva have a unique opportunity to visit the Museum of the History of Education of Kyiv Region (37 Yaroslav Mudryi St., 4th floor) until 5 April to learn more about how the couple from Medvyn glorified the Ukrainian folk costume around the world and contributed to the restoration of Ukraine’s independence.
The story of the life of Fedir and Oleksandra Brazhnyk was told during the presentation by the curator of the exhibition, researcher Maryna Hohulia, and the project manager of the “Around Us. UA” NGO Viktoriia Oliynyk shared how the “Around Us. UA” NGO continues the work of the Brazhnyk family, preserving the tangible and intangible heritage of the Ukrainian people. She also donated valuable publications to the museum and library of the institute: the book “Folk Calendar of Bohuslavshchyna” and the brochure “Brazhnyky – Masters of Ukrainian Clothing”.
We are grateful to the organisers of the event – the Kyiv Regional Institute and the head of the Museum of the History of Education of Kyiv Region, the event’s host Olha Pilkevych, the vice-rector of the Institute Natalia Benderets, and the “Kulish” bandura ensemble of the Bila Tserkva School of Arts No. 5.
